This Festschrift in honor of Professor Xuewu Gu's 65th birthday brings together contributions on two closely intertwined key phenomena in international relations: Power and Power Shifts. Various manifestations of power are considered, as well as recent geopolitical developments. Consequently, basic theoretical research is combined with empirical studies of influential actors on the international stage, in particular the People's Republic of China, Russia, the European Union, and the United States of America. Aimed equally at students, researchers, and practitioners of international politics, the volume thus offers a profound insight into the work of the jubilarian and at the same time represents an important and highly topical contribution to the study of power. With contributions by Christoph Antweiler, Rafael Biermann, James D. Bindenagel, Jörg Blasius, Malte Boecker, Enrico Fels, Sigmar Gabriel, Michael Gehler, Jörn-Carsten Gottwald, Christian Hacke, Christiane Heidbrink, Hans-Dieter Heumann, Wolfram Hilz, Ralph Kauz, Volker Kronenberg, Ludger Kühnhardt, Ulrich Lehner, Maximilian Mayer, Tilman Mayer, David Merkle, Rolf Mützenich, Beate Neuss, Hendrik W. Ohnesorge, Andrej Pustovitovskij, Martin Rupps, Ulrich Schlie, Reimund Seidelmann, Harro von Senger, Kristin Shi-Kupfer, Frank Sieren, Michael Staack, Grit Stra enberger, Markus Taube and Tim Wenniges.
