On 19 February 2024, the AStA of Ruhr-Universität Bochum hosted another event in the "A Day in History" series. Under the title "The 20th July 1944. A traitor's child all of a sudden", Berthold Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, the eldest son of resistance fighter Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, spoke about his childhood in National Socialist clan detention and its impact on his later career as an officer and major general in the Bundeswehr. Ulrich Schlie then held a panel discussion with Count von Stauffenberg in front of around 200 guests on the significance of military resistance in the Third Reich for the Federal Republic of Germany and the necessity, but also the difficulty, of keeping the memory of it alive.
