On Thursday, 10 October 2024, leading experts from the field of space policy and space security came together in Bonn for a fruitful lunch talk. In cooperation with the Rule of Law Programme Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Stefan Samse, Director of the KAS Rule of Law Programme Asia and Olivia Schlouch, Programme Manager of the KAS Rule of Law Programme Asia, Dr Ranjana Kaul, Secretary General of Spaceport Sarabha from New Delhi and Nayoung Youn, Senior Researcher of KARI in South Korea discussed with Prof. Dr Maximilian Mayer from the University of Bonn/CASSIS as well as Katja Grünfeld and Jacqueline Reichhold from the Institute for Air, Space and Cyber Law at the University of Cologne. The experts presented various perspectives and outlooks on the present and future of security in outer space and looked at possibilities and forms of intergovernmental cooperation. In view of the increasing relevance of outer space for security and communication in the modern world, the Lunch Talk provided a valuable platform for an exchange on questions of security and the legalisation of outer space. The participants agreed that they would like to deepen this productive dialogue in the future.
