The lecture focussed on the so-called "red memory" - the revolutionary history of the party - which has experienced a renaissance under Xi Jinping. Today, the Chinese Communist Party relies on innovative remembrance infrastructures: visitors slip into historical Red Army clothing, walk the Long March or take part in role-playing games designed to bring historical scenarios to life. These experience formats are part of the party's legitimisation strategy, which is increasingly relying on ideology and historical narratives in the face of economic challenges and Western ideologies.
