Marianna Budanova, the wife of the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service Kyrylo Budanov, was apparently poisoned. In an interview with ZDF heute on 29 November 2023, Ulrich Schlie explains the extent to which the suspected attack bears the signature of the Russian foreign intelligence service. The case could be categorised as part of a series of attempts by the Kremlin to eliminate disagreeable personalities - such as opposition politician Alexei Navalny, Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
