Guest article by Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge - Germany's Security Policy of the Future: Integration and Responsibility in the National Security Council Guest article by Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge - Germany's Security Policy of the Future

The guest article by Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge and Julia Leininger argues that such a council could help Germany better connect its military, civilian, and development policy measures. The authors particularly emphasize Germany's role as a civilian power, strong in international crisis prevention and peacebuilding. However, they caution against weakening civilian development efforts in favor of geopolitical interests, as this could jeopardize long-term stability. A National Security Council could contribute to integrating these different dimensions without sacrificing Germany's strengths in sustainable development.
