German-French Strategic Dialogue: Disinformation as a Geopolitical Challenge // La désinformation, un défi géopolitique

11. March 2025 | 18:30 - 20:00 Uhr | Zoom

The targeted spread of disinformation has dramatically increased in importance in recent years and presents a central challenge for democracies worldwide. False or misleading information is deliberately used to create uncertainty, amplify societal tensions, and undermine trust in state institutions. In the context of international conflicts such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the strategic use of disinformation as a hybrid threat element is particularly evident. Together with distinguished experts, we will discuss the following questions: How does disinformation affect the global security architecture and the balance of power? What approaches are Germany and France taking in the fight against disinformation? How can democratic states strengthen the resilience of their societies and cooperate across borders?

A joint event with the Institut français Bonn, the Centre Ernst Robert Curtius (CERC), and the CASSIS - Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies at the University of Bonn.

This event will be simultaneously translated in German and French.
