Prof. Sigmar Gabriel was Minister President of the State of Lower Saxony, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany in the grand coalition with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Federal Chairman of the SPD during the same period. Prof. Sigmar Gabriel is Chairman of Atlantik Brücke e.V., a member of the Trilateral Commission, the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group. He is also a policy advisor at Eurasia Group. Gabriel continues to deal intensively with foreign policy issues in his books and numerous publications in the media, even after his retirement from active politics. Since July 2022, he has been an honorary professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn.
