Profile

Dr. Florian Engels is a Senior Fellow at CASSIS. He studied political science at the University of Bonn and Science Po Grenoble from 2010-2015. After completing his Master's degree, he worked for the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and the German Energy Agency (Dena) in Berlin. For his doctorate, he returned to Bonn at the end of 2016 as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Wolfram Hilz at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology. Dr. Florian Engels successfully completed his dissertation entitled "Debates and decisions - France's participatory decision-making processes in the environmental and energy sector between deliberative democracy and instrumental politics" in 2023, which was funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. In addition to his work at CASSIS, Dr. Florian Engels works as a freelance consultant for various foundations.
