Professor Dr. Stephan Conermann is Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bonn. His area of responsibility includes the management of the faculty as well as the supervision of all administrative processes.

In addition to his work as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Mr. Conermann is Professor of Islamic Studies. His focus here is, among other things, on phenomena of power and domination, asymmetrical relations of dependency, slavery as well as postcolonialism. He is the editor of several series, including the "Bonner Islamstudien" (BIS), the "Bonner Asienstudien" (BAS) and the "Bonner islamwissenschaftliche Hefte" (BiH). In addition, Conermann is active in numerous university centers, scientific associations and joint projects. Most recently, he acted as spokesman for the DFG-Kollegforschergruppe 1362 "Geschichte und Gesellschaft der Mamlukenzeit (1250-1517)".
