Xiangming Chen ist Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor für Global Urban Studies und Soziologie am Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. Davor war er von 2007 bis 2019 Gründungsdekan und Direktor für Urban und Global Studies am Trinity College. Außerdem ist er Gastprofessor an der School of Social Development and Public Policy der Fudan University in Shanghai und außerordentlicher Professor an der Graduate School of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in Shanghai, China.
