Sergio Tezanos Vázquez ist ein spanischer Wissenschaftler, der sich auf Entwicklungsstudien spezialisiert hat. Er hat einen Doktortitel in internationaler Wirtschaft und Entwicklung (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), einen Bachelor in Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) und ist Experte für statistische Sozialforschung (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).

Er ist außerordentlicher Professor an der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Universidad de Cantabria (Spanien) und Chefredakteur des „Iberoamerican Journal of Development Studies". Außerdem ist er stellvertretender Direktor des Iberoamerikanischen Forschungsbüros für internationale Entwicklung und Zusammenarbeit an der Universidad de Cantabria. Von 2011 bis 2017 war er Präsident (und Gründer) des spanischen Netzwerks für Entwicklungsstudien (REEDES) und von 2014 bis 2017 Vizepräsident der Europäischen Vereinigung der Forschungs- und Ausbildungsinstitute für Entwicklung (EADI).

Er war assoziierter Forscher am Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI), Gastwissenschaftler am Institute of Development Studies (IDS) und am Department of International Development (Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford) sowie Gastwissenschaftler im Human Development Network der Weltbank (Washington DC).
