Profil

Gordan Akrap ist Dozent an mehreren Universitäten in Kroatien und im Ausland. Die Studien und Themen, welche er unterrichtet, stehen in engem Zusammenhang mit hybriden, modernen und neuen Sicherheitsherausforderungen, nationaler und internationaler Sicherheit, Nachrichtendiensten und internationalen Beziehungen. Er schloss sein Studium an der Fakultät für Elektronik und Informatik in Zagreb 1994 ab. Im Jahr 2011 promovierte er an der Universität Zagreb im Bereich der Informations- und Kommunikationswissenschaften. Der Titel seiner Doktorarbeit lautete „Informationsstrategien bei der Gestaltung des öffentlichen Wissens“. Während seiner Laufbahn in den diplomatischen und nachrichtendienstlichen Strukturen Kroatiens absolvierte er eine Reihe von Fachkursen, darunter die Diplomatische Akademie. Er ist in der Forschung in den Bereichen nationale und regionale Sicherheit, Nachrichtendienste und Geschichte des Heimatkriegs tätig. Zusätzlich arbeitet er im Rahmen des internationalen NATO SAS 161 Projekts „Military Aspects of Countering Hybrid War: Experience, Lessons, Best Practices“. Er hat mehrere Bücher und Beiträge in Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht. Darüber hinaus ist er Chefredakteur der Zeitschrift „National Security and the Future“ sowie Gründer und Präsident des Hybrid Warfare Research Institute und des Zagreb Security Forum. Des Weiteren ist er Mitglied (zweite Amtszeit) des Rates für die zivile Aufsicht über die Sicherheits- und Nachrichtendienste in Kroatien. Hierfür wurde er mit großer Mehrheit vom kroatischen Parlament gewählt. Außerdem ist er Mitglied des Vorstands der International Intelligence History Association.
