Not getting along so well is called "fruitful confrontation" on a diplomatic level. And this was declared a few years ago between Germany and France. Our interviewee, Landry Charrier, head of the Franco-German magazine "dokdoc" and Fellow at the Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies (CASSIS) in Bonn, says: "Germany and France need to pull themselves together, because there is no alternative to the Franco-German engine of the EU.
