Due to its economic strength and its geographical location in a "Mittellage" in Europe, Germany's Foreign Policy has undergone significant change within the past 150 years. In a fruitful discussion with Prof. Herdegen and Dr. Röttgen, the students discussed the current German Foreign Policy debate against the background of the power shifts caused by the war in Ukraine and the terrorist attacks in Israel. A special emphasis was put on the implications of “Zeitenwende” for the future orientation of the German Bundeswehr, the relationship between the military and diplomacy as well as on legal aspects, namely the conditions caused by the framework of the German Basic Law.
