In the Phoenix interview Dr Frank Umbach sheds light on the public meeting of the Parliamentary Control Panel, which dealt with the German intelligence services - the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) and the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD). In the interview, Dr Umbach looks at the range of threats to which Germany is exposed in the context of hybrid warfare by Russia, espionage activities by China and extremist terrorism and addresses the question of whether the German intelligence services are adequately prepared for new threats.
