In the context of the Ukraine war, the Federal Republic of Germany, together with other EU member states, is supplying weapons to a crisis area and armaments policy is once again moving up the agenda. In the future, Germany and France are planning major armament projects in partnership across all branches of the armed forces, be it "FCAS" to replace the current Eurofighters, helicopters, satellite-based communications systems or a joint tank in cooperation with other EU states. But all these projects have stalled in different ways - with devastating consequences for the future of Franco-German relations and the European security architecture.

The dialogue will discuss the prospect of joint strategic armaments cooperation and the background to the two countries' different security policy cultures. What can a common path for a secure Europe look like?
